Warren’s Showtime Heads Saturday’s $100,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes

WARREN’S SHOWTIME HEADS SATURDAY’S $100,000 FRAN’S VALENTINE STAKES FOR CALIFORNIA-BRED FILLIES & MARES AT MILE ON TURF

SPONSORED BY THE CTBA, RACE IS PART OF LUCRATIVE GOLDEN STATE SERIES

ARCADIA, Calif. (June 3, 2020)–A 3-year-old daughter of the red hot California-based stallion Clubhouse Ride, Warren’s Showtime will face older fillies and mares for the first time as she heads a field of six California-bred or sired distaffers going one mile in Saturday’s $100,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes at Santa Anita.

A three-time stakes winner, Warren’s Showtime, a chestnut homebred out of Benjamin and Sally Warren’s Grade I stakes winning Warren’s Veneda, is conditioned by Craig Lewis.

Prominent among her opposition is the Fran’s Valentine defending champion Cordiality, who has been idle since taking last year’s running on May 12, 2019.

Named after Earl Scheib’s multiple Grade I stakes winning homebred filly who was foaled in 1982, the Fran’s Valentine, sponsored by the CTBA, is part of the lucrative Golden State Series for California-bred or sired horses.

WARREN’S SHOWTIME

Owner:  Benjamin & Sally Warren

Trainer:  Craig Lewis

An unlucky fourth, beaten 3 ¼ lengths in the six furlong Echo Eddie Stakes here on May 16, Warren’s Showtime, who is much better suited at a mile on grass, lacked room inside in mid-stretch in what was a solid effort.  An authoritative half length winner of the one mile turf China Doll Stakes two starts back on March 7, Warren’s Showtime, a three-time one mile turf stakes winner, is four for five at the trip and is 8-4-0-2 overall.

CORDIALITY

Owner:  Donnie Crevier

Trainer:  Tim Yakteen

Off at 5-2, she led gate to wire in taking last year’s Fran’s Valentine by 1 ¼ lengths over multiple stakes winner Queen Bee to You.  Bred in California by Edward C. Allred, this 7-year-old Papa Clem mare will be ridden for the first time by Umberto Rispoli as she bids for her second career stakes win and her 11th win from 30 overall starts.
