JOCKEY QUOTES

JUAN HERNANDEZ, HIMIKA, WINNER: “I had a good trip outside. I took advantage of my post being to the outside with speed to my inside. I broke good and let the inside speed go. I was really comfortable. She was traveling really well down the backside. My filly, she is really smart. She was tracking the horses in front of me. Turning for home when I asked her to pass the horses in front of me, she did it pretty good. After that I just took it easy on her.” “I feel she’s stronger and more mature. Her first couple of races when I rode her, it seemed like she would break and wanted to go. She relaxed pretty good today.”

TRAINER QUOTES

BOB BAFFERT, HIMIKA, WINNER: “She was probably running faster last time going long. She was in a good spot, had a great post and she was manageable to rate like, so I felt pretty confident. You just don’t know how much that last race took out of her, but it looks like it didn’t take a lot out of her. I was happy that she is back to winning form. She basically told us, no two turns for now but maybe down the road. “Maybe something like the Test, you know I think she is that kind of filly. Right now, we are just thinking about next weekend the Tokyo City Cup. We go week by week, like Belichick.”
