JOCKEY QUOTES

ANTONIO FRESU, LONESOME STEW, WINNER: “That wasn’t the plan. This horse always shows some speed but today he was acting up a little bit inside the gate and he didn’t leave the gate very well. I just tried to bide my time and improvised a little bit. I tried to get him comfortable down the hill and once the horse was nice and settled, I tried to just put him on the outside just to keep him out of trouble. He just flew home. Amazing job by Mark and his team. It is a great race to win and I’m really happy.”

TRAINER QUOTES

MARK GLATT, LONESOME STEW, WINNER: “He is a Grazen and I look at all the Grazens. I basically just took a shot. He was a 2-year-old at the time and I know the Grazens get better with age. It took us some time. We had to give him a couple of layoffs, but he always showed some talent, especially when he came back off the first layoff. Linear was patient with him and afforded us the time he needed to get right. I am glad she is getting rewarded today.”

NOTES: The winning owner is Linear Bannasch.
