JOCKEY QUOTES

JUAN HERNANDEZ, EXPLORA, WINNER: “She started lugging in a little bit around the turn and I felt the pace was really quick. She was traveling well and was waiting for the quarter pole to start making her move. She is a really smart filly. Bob told me that she was doing and feeling really good. He was right about it because she went really easy today.”

TRAINER QUOTES

BOB BAFFERT EXPLORA, WINNER: “Down the backside it looked like maybe she was just not running, I think they were just going really fast. I was hoping to get an easy lead with Himika (fourth), she wanted to run on the lead, but they were pressing her hard the whole way. All of a sudden when (Juan Hernandez) had her geared up, you can see that she was taking off. It’s nice after the Breeders’ Cup, she came back and she is back in form. It’s good to see her back in form…It’s going to be two turns from here to the rest of her life.”

NOTES: The winning owner are Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman.
