$ 175,000 LEIGH ANN HOWARD CALIFORNIA CUP OAKS DERBY QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

HECTOR I. BERRIOS, TAKE ANOTHER CARD, WINNER:“She broke perfectly out of the gate. I told her to go and she was comfortable and settled perfectly. When I saved ground, she stayed comfortable, I knew I had it. The last quarter, there was a little contact with the filly (Less Is More), but she came through no problem and beat her. In the stretch, her stride was very nice. She is a very classy filly.”

TRAINER QUOTES

SIMON CALLAGHAN, TAKE ANOTHER CARD, WINNER: “It was very exciting. Hector gave her a lovely ride, saved every inch of ground and they got a little tight in the stretch, but she was very brave. She went through a very tight hole.

“After this performance we may look into something else, but I wasn’t really thinking past today. It was a pretty quick turn around from her initial win and I think the extra week with the cancellations helped us. I’m delighted to get a nice win.

“Frankie (Dettori) told me that he didn’t know much about Cal-breds but she felt like a really good filly and then he just laughed. So, I don’t know what he meant by that, but it was definitely a good first performance and nice to see that she could stretch out.”
