Arcadia, CA (May 22, 2025) - Santa Anita Park’s Hollywood Meet reached the halfway point by increasing the substantial gains in handle and field size through comparable dates from last year.

The Hollywood Meet began on April 18 and has been fueled by the consolidation of racing in California into a single circuit. With purse increases of over 10 percent from last year’s season, the meet has attracted numerous stables from Northern California, which has led to an 11 percent rise in field size at Santa Anita, which equates to adding nearly a full horse per race.

The support from the Northern California owners combined with the sustained backing from the traditional stables who call the Arcadia, California track home, Santa Anita Park’s handle is up 14 percent from 2024. With five of the nine weeks of the Hollywood Meet completed, the handle received momentum from several Pick Six carryovers which garnered attention and wagering dollars from horseplayers around the world chasing them.

On track attendance during Santa Anita’s 90th year has remained steady with a five percent increase over 2024.
