RESOLVE AND HEY JESSIE LEAD THE SANTA BARBARA STAKES FOR FILLIES AND MARES GOING 1 ½ MILES ON TURF SUNDAY AT SANTA ANITA

ARCADIA, CA (April 28, 2026)—Resolve, who has been on the short-end of three consecutive photo finishes in her most recent starts, which includes month’s GIII Santa Ana Stakes, will look to finally breakthrough with a first stakes win Sunday in the $100,000 Santa Barbara Stakes for fillies and mares going 1 ½ miles on turf at Santa Anita.

Trained by Leonard Powell, Resolve in the Santa Ana going 1 1/8 miles on turf finished second by a nose to Take A Breath at Santa Anita. Take A Breath returned to win the GIII Royal Heroine on Saturday at Santa Anita. Previously, Resolve finished second by a head in two allowance events on turf. The 4-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute is owned by California Racing Partners, Ciaglia Racing and Kevin F. O’Donnell. Jockey Hector Berrios will again ride Resolve.

Hey Jessie, trained by Sean McCarthy, finished sixth in the Santa Ana. A 4-year-old California-bred daughter of Grazen, Hey Jessie is seeking her first stakes win against open company. Prior to the Santa Ana, Hey Jessie finished second by a half-length to winner Vodka Vodka in the Unusual Heat Turf Classic for statebreds on Jan 17 at Santa Anita.
