__MULTIPLE GRADE II WINNER SOMERSET WEST, PROMISING IMPORT GREEN CARRERA LEAD 11 3-YEAR-OLD FILLIES ENTERED IN THE GRADE III AUTUMN MISS STAKES GOING ONE MILE ON TURF SUNDAY AT SANTA ANITA __
ARCADIA, CA (Oct. 20, 2026)—Somerset West, winner of last month’s Grade II Music City Stakes at Kentucky Downs, and recent European import Green Carrera, a promising fourth in in the GI Del Mar Oaks in her U.S. debut, lead a field of 11 3-year-old fillies set to go in the Grade III, $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes going one mile on turf Sunday at Santa Anita Park.
Somerset West, trained by John Sadler for owner-breeder Keith Abrahams, won the 6 ½-furlong Music City by a half-length at odds of 19-1 on Sept. 5. Prior to that, the daughter of Kantharos won her stakes debut in the GII San Clemente for sophomore fillies going one mile on turf in July at Del Mar. She enters with a record of 6: 3-2-0 with $1,056,375 in earnings. Somerset West will be ridden by Armando Ayuso, who was also aboard for the San Clemente.
Green Carrera, a daughter of Lope de Vega bred in England, won twice in seven starts in Europe when trained by Joseph O’Brien before coming stateside this summer and joining trainer Leonard Powell’s shedrow. In the 1 1/8-mile Del Mar Oaks on Aug. 22, Green Carrera was last of 10 with just a quarter mile remaining but then rallied to be fourth, beaten 2 ½ lengths. The winner, Tam Tam, came back to win the Grade I Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes on Oct. 10 at Keeneland.
Green Carrera is owned by Chivalry Thoroughbred Racing, Farfellow Farm and Rancho Temescal Partners. Jockey Umberto Rispoli, who was aboard in the Del Mar Oaks, again has the call.
Memorized makes her stakes debut for trainer Phil D’Amato and owner Resolute Racing. A $900,000 auction buy as a yearling, Memorized made her first three starts in the east for trainer Chad Brown, which included a maiden win in September at the Belmont at Aqueduct meet. Her California debut for D’Amato came Aug. 9 in a first-level going 1 1/16 miles at Del Mar. Memorized stalked the pace and then won comfortably by 1 ¼ lengths as the 2-1 favorite. Rispoli rode Memorized that day. With him opting for Green Carrera on Sunday, Juan Hernandez will take over in the irons.
