MOHAVEN BIDS FOR SECOND STAKES WIN IN SATURDAY’S EVENING JEWEL STAKES PRESENTED BY THOROUGHBRED AFTERCARE ALLIANCE FOR 3-YEAR-OLD CALIFORNIA-BRED FILLES GOING 6 ½ FURLONGS AT SANTA ANITA

ARCADIA, CA (March 30, 2026) – Mohaven returns to dirt in search of a second stakes win in Saturday’s Evening Jewel Stakes for California-bred fillies and mares going 6 ½ furlongs at Santa Anita. The Evening Jewel, presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, is one of five stakes on Santa Anita Derby day at The Great Race Place.

In October, Mohaven won the Golden State Juvenile Filles going seven furlongs on dirt at Del Mar. Mohaven overcame mild contact down the stretch that day to earn her first stakes victory by 4 ¼ lengths. After a three-plus month layoff, the Yaupon filly returned Feb.7 at Santa Anita against open company and finished off board as the 3-1 favorite in the Sweet Life Stakes at about 6 ½ furlongs on the hillside turf.

Trained by John Sadler for owner Legacy Ranch, Mohaven is 5: 2-2-0 and leads the Evening Jewel field with $184,750 in earnings. She’ll have Santa Anita leading rider Emisael Jaramillo aboard for the first time.

Cee Drew, trained by Dan Blacker, most recently tried graded stakes company earlier this month in the Grade III Santa Ysabel and finished fifth. Prior to her graded stakes test, Cee Drew found her best stride late to win the California Cup Oaks for statebreds by a neck going a mile on grass at Santa Anita in January. Owned by breeder My Way Racing LLC, the Cistron filly is 4: 2-0-0 with $134,750 in earnings. She’ll have Armando Ayuso back aboard.

Too Sassy, has been running exclusively in stakes company since winning the Generous Portion going 5 ½ furlongs last September at Del Mar. Off at 25-1 in the Generous Portion, Too Sassy dueled on the lead and pulled away to win by 3 ¼ lengths over Mohaven. The Om filly has finished fifth in two subsequent stakes outings, which includes the California Cup Oaks most recently. Too Sassy is owned by Windy Ridge Stables and will have Tyle Baze aboard for the first time.
