Man O Rose A Towering Presence In The Sensational Star Stakes For California-Breds Going About 6 ½ Furlongs On The Hillside Turf Course Sunday At Santa Anita

MAN O ROSE A TOWERING PRESENCE IN THE SENSATIONAL STAR STAKES FOR CALIFORNIA-BREDS GOING ABOUT 6 ½ FURLONGS ON THE HILLSIDE TURF COURSE SUNDAY AT SANTA ANITA

ARCADIA, CA (March 17, 2026)—Following a win against open company in the six-furlong Palos Verdes Stakes on dirt, Man O Rose drops in with California-breds and switches back to turf in Sunday’s $100,000 Sensational Star Stakes for California-breds sprinting about 6 ½ furlongs on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita.

Trained by Jeff Mullins, Man O Rose won the Palos Verdes on Feb. 15 by 1 ½ lengths to improve to 19: 12-3-0 with $632,965 in earnings. The Palos Verdes was Man O Rose’s fifth consecutive victory, sixth stakes win, and first stakes win again open company. A 6-year-old gelding by Stanford, Man O Rose last year won the California Flag for statebreds on the hillside turf course. He is 9: 4-2-0 overall on the lawn. Jockey Edwin Maldonado has the call on Man O Rose.

Flyover, trained by John Sadler, exits a fifth-place finish in the restricted Clockers’ Corner Stakes sprinting six furlongs on the flat turf course Feb. 8. Prior to that, in the much tougher GII Joe Hernandez over the hillside course, Flyover set the pace before weakening in the stretch to finish eighth. A 5-year-old horse by Om, Flyover is 9: 4-0-0 with $175,136 in earnings or owners Integrity Thoroughbred Racing, ITR LLC, The Ellwood Johnston Trust and Kenneth A. Tevelde. He’ll have Antonio Fresu aboard.

Speedy Wilson is a two-time stakes winner versus statebreds sprinting on dirt, but has only raced once on turf and never on the hillside course. Trained by Phil D’Amato, Speedy Wilson most recently finished fourth behind Man O Rose in the California Cup Sprint on the main track Jan. 17. A 4-year-old colt by Tough Sunday, Speedy Wilson is 10: 4-1-2 with $337,980 in earnings for owner-breeder Nick Alexander. He’ll have regular rider Armando Ayuso in the irons.
