__JOCKEY DAVIS COMES WEST AND EARNS FIRST GRADED STAKES WIN WITH EASTERN INVADER PEOPLE WATCHING IN THE GRADE III AUTUMN MISS STAKES FOR 3-YEAR-OLD FILLIES GOING ONE MILE ON TURF SUNDAY AT SANTA ANITA __

ARCADIA, CA (Oct. 25, 2026)—Jockey Katie Davis came west with out-of-state shipper People Watching and earned her first graded stakes victory in the Grade III, $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going one mile on turf Sunday.

After settling in mid-pack in a strung-out field, Davis and People Watching (12-1) launched a rally on the second turn, seized the lead in mid-stretch and then comfortably held off a late charge from Ramayana (6-1) to win by 1 ¾ lengths. It was another three-quarters of a length back to Brave Deb (8-1) in third.

Trained by Tom Proctor for owner Glen Hill Farm, New York-based People Watching was making her first start in a stakes. The daughter of Twirling Candy previously won an allowance at Saratoga in August. People Watching improved to 6: 3-0-1 with more than $150,000 in earnings.

For Davis, 33, her first graded stakes win was the 372nd victory in a career that began in December of 2013.

“It’s a 360 (degree) circle for me and getting my first graded stakes,” said Davis, who is married to fellow jockey Trevor McCarthy. “I have to thank Glen Hill Farms and Tom Proctor for giving me this opportunity. I’m happy I got the job done.”

People Watching won in a time 1:34.10 following fractions 22.88, 46.58, 1:10.19 and 1:22.12.

“I knew a couple of guys were behind me trying to catch me, but I knew she had it once her ears threw up,” Davis said. “If she had a horse come up next to her, she would have dug back in.”

The complexion of the Autumn Miss changed significantly Sunday morning when both morning line favorite Somerset West and second choice Green Carrera were scratched.

People Watching paid $26.40, $11.00 and $6.20. Ramayana, ridden by Jamie Spencer for trainer Richard Mandella, returned $6.00 and $5.20. Brave Deb, also trained by Mandella and ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, paid $10.40.

Live racing resumes Friday at Santa Anita with a nine-race card starting at 1 p.m. PT.
