HEY JESSIE SHOOTS FOR BACK-TO-BACK STAKES WINS IN THE POSSIBLY PERFECT STAKES FOR FILLIES AND MARES GOING 1 ¼ MILES ON TURF FRIDAY AT SANTA ANITA

ARCADIA, CA (June 7, 2026)— After beating open company in last month’s Santa Barbara Stakes, California-bred Hey Jessie will look to do it again this Friday in the $100,000 Possibly Perfect Stakes for fillies and mares going 1 ¼ miles on turf at Santa Anita.

In the Santa Barbara, which was 1 ½ miles on turf, Hey Jessie staked the pace and took over in the stretch to prevail by three-quarters of a length over longshot Cailin Dana, who also returns in the Possibly Perfect. A 4-year-old filly by Grazen, Hey Jessie is trained by Sean McCarthy for owner Sayjay Racing. Jockey Emisael Jaramillo rode Hey Jessie for the first time in the Santa Barbara and again has the call.

Cailin Dana finished just three-quarters of a length back of Hey Jessie in second in the Santa Barbara at odds of 13-1. A 5-year-old mare by Oscar Performance, Cailin Dana is proving an affinity for these longer distances as two starts prior the the Santa Barbara, she graduated when going 1 3/8 miles last June at Aqueduct. She is owned by Stepaside Farm. Armando Ayuso, the leading rider at the Hollywood Meet, rode Cailin Dana in the Santa Barbara and again has the call.

Watchtower, a Grade III winner trained by Richard Baltas, stretches out in distance after finishing off the board in the GIII Royal Heroine going one mile on turf on April 25. In January at Santa Anita, Watchtower was beaten just a neck in the GIII Robert J. Frankel going 1 1/8 miles. The 5-year-old mare by Demarchelier is owned by Abbondanza Racing, TCC Stables and Omar Aldabbagh. She’ll be ridden by Welfin Orantes.

Trainer Leonard Powell has two entered including Resolve. Sent off the 4-5 favorite in the Santa Barbara, Resolve had the lead with just a quarter mile to run but then weakened to finish fourth while drifting out in the stretch. The 4-year-old filly by Midnight Lute is owned by California Racing Partners, Ciaglia Racing and Kevin F. O’Donnell. Jockey Kazushi Kimura will ride Resolve for the first time.
