GRADE III, $100,000 SAN CARLOS STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

JUAN HERNANDEZ, PILOT COMMANDER, WINNER: “I was really confident with my horse. I was on the rail just waiting. My plan was because my horse likes to run in the clear, to wait until the quarter pole and then go around the horses. But I saw the horse in front of me was drifting out and I saw my chance. I just sent my horse from there. He was really professional. My horse was in a little tight, but he came through and he won the race.”

TRAINER QUOTES

BOB BAFFERT, PILOT COMMANDER, WINNER: “When he drew the one hole, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy for him. Since we have taken the blinkers off of him, he has learned to relax. He needed that today. He was in a tight spot, and I thought, boy, he is really going to have to show his grit but you can tell the last 100 yards he was not going to be denied. He had his ears pinned.”

OWNER QUOTES

ALEX CHILDS, CSLR RACING PARTNERS, PILOT COMMANDER, WINNER: “That was a tough out but he showed a lot of heart. I’m just super impressed and Bob has done an incredible job with the horse. I couldn’t be happier.”

NOTES: The winning owner is CSLR Racing Partners, LLC.
