GRADE III, $ 100,000 MEGAHERTZ STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

LANFRANCO DETTORI, RASHMI, WINNER: “My strategy on that last turn was to go forward. But the pace was hot with Omaha Girl going for the lead. I let her go in front and relaxed my horse behind where it was nice and comfortable. She was breathing nice. It was just a matter of when I was going to press the button, and when I did, she shot forward with speed. Simple as that.”

TRAINER QUOTES

JONATHAN THOMAS, RASHMI, WINNER: “She carries her tail like that all the time at first it bothered me, but it is her natural thing, so we just let her be.

“She has really taken to California, she has gotten stronger and she had some confidence builders at Del Mar, in those starter races. I thought she ran deceptively good in the Grade I American Oaks here (Fourth place). We are really excited to get back to the Winner’s Circle.

“We are very fortunate, I think I have the best crew I’ve ever had. We have good riders that care very much and great guys in the stalls. The horses are very well looked after, and they make my job very easy.”

NOTES: The winning owner is Augustin Stables.
