GRADE III, $100,000 SENORITA STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

UMBERTO RISPOLI, JUNGLE PEACE, WINNER: “I wish I was here yesterday, I apologize to all the trainers and owners I was stuck five hours in Atlanta. It wasn’t fun at all. I’m glad I made it back and we can enjoy this winner. “The filly was working well, I was really pleased with the works and, her first time down the hill, she acted like a professional. Thankful we got it.”

ABOUT JOURNALISM’S WORK: “It looks great on TV. He is a great looking horse, and he moves well. I was very pleased. I was very pleased with his work and the way he cooled down. I had the chance to stay 15 to 20 minutes after the work before I took the other plane. I can’t be more proud than that. I just have to keep my fingers crossed and knock on wood that everything goes well from now until he hits the dirt.”

OWNER QUOTES

MICHAEL NENTWIG, PART OWNER, JUNGLE PEACE, WINNER: “We wanted to try to get a mile out of her and we knew that might be stretching with the pedigree, but we really liked the way she dug in the first time and thought she could definitely sprint. She doesn’t have the best pedigree in the world, but she tries hard. We will take a good mare that tries hard over one with a good page any day. We are going to try to stretch her out to a mile before the end of the meet. We are going to try that and hopefully a little later 3-year-old races at Del Mar.”

NOTES: The winning owners are CYBT, McLean Racing Stables, Jerry McClanahan, Michael Nentwig, and Jeremy Peskoff.
