GRADE III, $100,000 SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

ARMANDO AYUSO, NITTI, WINNER: “I was feeling like I was in perfect (position). This horse, he is always at the back of the pack. He knows what he is doing. He is a smart horse. I was following the seven (favorite Divin Propos), he was the horse to beat. I started to make my move and I saw the seven was not hustling too much. When I made my move, I knew I was a winner. I was confident because when I passed the clock the first time I saw it was 1:10 and I knew the other horses were going fast and they were going to stop. My horse has a good kick at the end. I was not worried about how far back I was because they were going fast. I was worried about the seven, he was closest to me so I waited to see when he would make his move. When he made his move it was really short, so I just went in front of him right away. When my horse got rolling and switched leads, he was a winner.

“I think every single race that I win at Santa Anita is amazing. How things have been progressing with my business little by little, it is amazing especially this. I think this is my greatest day so I’m just happy. “

TRAINER QUOTES

LEONARD POWELL, NITTI, WINNER: “The fractions were very fast, so the first part of the race I was very happy with the trip we were getting. I got a little worried when Armando decided to track the seven (Divin Propos) and the seven wasn’t moving forward. But then he decided to take course B and it worked out well because that horse has a terrific turn of foot.”

NOTES: The winning owners are Innergy Racing Corp, Zephyr Racing LLC and Sonny Pais.
