GRADE II, $ 200,000 SAN PASQUAL STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

TIAGO PEREIRA, KATONAH, WINNER: “One short move is better for this horse. I saw the form and there were a few horses with speed. I didn’t care if I was six lengths, eight lengths behind. I needed the horse to take the bridle and let him tell me, ‘Right now, let’s go.’ When he got to the stretch and took off, I thought, I’m going to win today.”

TRAINER QUOTES

SHANE O’NEILL (REPRESENTING TRAINER DOUG O’NEILL), KATONAH, WINNER: “Tiago knows this horse really well. They have a pretty strong connection. Doug already has J B Strikes Back for the Santa Anita Handicap. So, I’m not sure where he’ll go with Katonah. But he’s just a hard-knocking horse. He tries hard every time. He closed decently after that pace. We’re all really happy.”

NOTES: The winning owner is R3 Racing LLC.
