JOCKEY QUOTES

JOSE ORTIZ, LOCKED, WINNER: “He had the blinkers on today. I talked to Todd, and he told me to be aggressive out of the gate and put him as close as I can and the horse will do the rest. The horse has a nice stride, when he gets into the stride he covers a lot of ground. “I feel great to win a race like this with a horse like Locked, he is unbelievable. I really loved him since he was a 2-year-old. I’m very happy for the owners and Todd. I appreciate the opportunity to ride him back today.”

HECTOR I. BERRIOS, EXPRESS TRAIN, SECOND: “My horse and I were running very comfortable today. When I saw an opening with the horse in front of me I had to jump on that opportunity and enter inside. Express Train was absolutely amazing today."

OWNER QUOTES

ARON WELLMAN, ECLIPSE THOROUGHBRED PARTNERS, WINNER: “It is just a huge honor to be here with a horse like Locked. I grew up coming to Santa Anita with my parents and to win a race like the Big ‘Cap is what dreams are made of. We have had a huge day for Eclipse Thoroughbred and our partners and I just want to thank Walmac Farm and Gainesway Farm. Jose rode this horse as a 2-year-old and won a Grade I on him. We felt like we didn’t get the fairest of shakes at the (2023) Breeders’ Cup here when he was two and thankfully, we got redemption today.”

NOTES: The winning owner is Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Walmac Farm LLC.
