TRAINER QUOTES

MICHAEL MCCARTHY, STARK CONTRAST, WINNER: “He’s a neat little horse to be around. He kind of showed his hand early in Del Mar, he put in a couple of good works in the morning. He ran just well enough on the dirt and from the gate to go ahead and warrant a start on the dirt. Things didn’t work out “He’s a neat little horse to be around. He kind of showed his hand early in Del Mar, he put in a couple of good works in the morning. He ran just well enough on the dirt and from the gate to go ahead and warrant a start on the dirt. Things didn’t work out. In his pedigree, Caravaggio gives him a little bit of speed and Quality Road gives him the stamina.”

ON THE ALTADENA FIRES ANNIVERSARY: “A lot of things have happened and transpired over the year, a couple of unfortunate things, a lot of good things. You know people are rebuilding, people are getting back home. Hopefully no one ever has to go through what the people of Altadena or the Pacific Palisades went through. Terrible deal but we were rebuilding and getting stronger.”

NOTES: The winning owner is Amerman Racing, LLC, Stark Contrast was bred by Mrs. Jerry Amerman.
