ECHO EDDIE STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

ANTONIO FRESU, FIONELLO, WINNER: “I got to know him last time, that was a mile race. So today, at six and a half, I was expecting to be a bit slow into stride. He left the gate pretty well but he just didn’t have the speed to go with them. I tried to get him comfortable where he was on the rail, try to save as much ground as I could. I tipped him out at the top of the lane, when he saw the daylight he started running and he finished really hard. I could feel they were going fast and that was pretty good for me.”

TRAINER QUOTES

STEVE KNAPP, FIONELLO, WINNER: “Two races ago he didn’t get out, and he didn’t get out of the gate today. He’s been training great and we’ve always felt he was going to be a late closing sprinter. He got the job done today. I think he’s going to be a really nice horse. He’ll keep improving.”

NOTES: The winning owners are Steve R. Knapp, Terry C Lovingier, John Moroney, and Sandra Lee Grey.
