ARCTIC WOLF SHIPS IN FROM OUT OF STATE AND SCORES IN THE SPEAKEASY STAKES FOR 2-YEAR-OLDS GOING 5 FURLONGS ON TURF SATURDAY AT SANTA ANITA

The colt by Frosted was ridden by Emisael Jaramillo and is trained by Jack Sisterson

ARCADIA, CA (Oct. 3, 2026)—Shipped to Santa Anita Park from Kentucky in search of a first stakes win, Arctic Wolf made it a successful raiding party Saturday when motoring to victory under jockey Emisael Jaramillo in the $100,000 Speakeasy Stakes for 2-year-olds going five furlongs on turf.

Trained by Jack Sisteron, Arctic Wolf ranged up to pacesetter and fellow eastern invader Omaha Spirit turning into the stretch and then spurted away to earn a comfortable 2 ¼-length victory. Filly Omaha Spirit, the even-money favorite who was ridden by Juan Hernandez for trainer Wesley Ward, was overtaken late by 40-1 longshot Fumano’s Fire to finish third.

Arctic Wolf, a 2-year-old colt by Frosted, won in a time of 55.85 seconds following fractions of 21.30 and 43.56.

“Omaha Spirit is a really tough filly and I had to go early and find her,” Jaramillo said. “(Arctic Wolf) proved that he is a really good horse.”

Arctic Wolf won his debut sprinting 5 ½ furlongs on turf at the Belmont at Aqueduct meet in July when trained by Phillip Antonacci. He was then sold privately to current owners CTR Stables, MHM Stables and John F. Goldthorpe and transferred to Sisterson. In two previous starts for his current connections, Arctic Wolf finished sixth in the Riverside Rush Stakes at Ellis Park in August and fourth in the 6 ½-furlong Kentucky Downs Juvenile Sprint Stakes most recently on Aug. 29.

Arctic Wolf paid $5.40, $4.00 and $2.20. Fumano’s Fire, ridden by Cristobal Herrera for trainer Edwin Alvarez, returned $18.80 and $5.00. Omaha Spirit paid $2.20.
