AFFIRMED STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

HECTOR I. BERRIOS, GAMING, WINNER: “I wanted to go to the lead. I got a good position and he went very comfortably. Then I just waited and waited and when I moved on him, he responded.”

OWNER QUOTES

KARL WATSON, GAMING, WINNER: “It’s about what I thought might happen. It was what I was hoping, but I wasn’t sure how the end would come out. I didn’t know if he would or if Nevada (Beach) would run on by him in the end. He wasn’t able to today. The rail might’ve been a little bit of a factor but they both ran good and we are happy. “I don’t know what it would be like not to have horses with (Bob Baffert). I have never been with anybody else, but he is great he makes it fun. I’ve been with Paul and Mike for 20 years, I don’t know how long exactly and we have always been with Bob. Bob takes care of us and every now and then we get lucky.”

NOTES: The winning trainer is Bob Baffert and winning owners are Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman. Runner-up Nevada Beach is also trained by Baffert for Pegram, Watson and Weitman.
