JOCKEY QUOTES

HECTOR I. BERRIOS, ATITLAN, WINNER: “John Shirreffs put a shorter blinker on him and it’s much better. He went comfortably. When I put him on the outside on the turn, he responded and finished strong. I liked him a lot today.”

TRAINER QUOTES

JOHN SHIRREFFS, ATITLAN, WINNER: “(Hector) Is just so great on the turf. He has a real sense of the horse and what is going on in the race. “All I can say is thank you very much to the O’Connor’s for sending the horses, they are nice horses. This is one of those dream races, a marquee race. You are coming down the hillside and you come onto the main track and you go around again. It’s an exciting race.”
