AMERICA’S LARGEST ASIAN-THEMED NIGHT MARKET EXPECTED TO ATTRACT OVER 100,000 VISITORS OVER HOLIDAY WEEKEND AT THE GREAT RACE PLACE
ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 28, 2017)–Santa Anita Park’s wildly popular 626 Night Market, America’s largest Asian-themed night market, is expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors over the upcoming Labor Day weekend, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The brainchild of 36-year-old entrepreneur Jonny Hwang, the 626 Night Market, which features a wide array of innovative merchandise, Food Trucks, live music and cutting edge Asian cuisine, has already attracted more than 300,000 visitors over three previous weekends this summer.
“We’re confident this weekend’s event will be our biggest of the year,” said Santa Anita Director of Special Projects, Pete Siberell. “This is going to be a fun, end-of-summer type experience for many thousands of young people in the area and we’re excited to once again be a part of such a tremendously successful event and to be able to expose potential new fans to our magnificent venue.”
“626,” which was first staged in Pasadena in 2012, was patterned after similar events that Hwang had experienced in Taiwan.
“We’re hoping to finish up the summer in style this weekend and we think this could be our best event ever,” said Hwang. “As we’ve done in the past, we look forward to showcasing many favorite food vendors and demonstrating new food concepts generated by entrepreneurs from our local communities.
“Those who follow us on social media and have attended prior events here at Santa Anita know that we provide great entertainment with lots of opportunities to make new friends, interact with local vendors and have a fun time in a contemporary night market environment.”
