JOEL ROSARIO, EDWARDS GOING LEFT, WINNER: “He broke a little slow so I was having to use him a little right away. It looked like a nice spot was there on the rail and he was wanting to go towards it. There was room so I dipped him in and he did the rest. I wanted to have him wherever he wanted to be and he was happy and traveling well once there. He tried really hard today and fought back. Last time I rode him he was trying to go by the other horses and didn’t quit, so when we were in it today, in the stretch I saw the same thing from him.”
TYLER BAZE, KING ABNER, SECOND: “I don’t like getting beat like that. I thought Edwards Going Left got away from us a little on the first turn, so I angled out. Gotta say, that time on that track, that’s fast. It’s been a little heavy all day.”
JOHN SADLER, EDWARDS GOING LEFT, WINNER: “Just watching the races, the track seems like the horses in front were running really well, so I told Joel to ride him out of the gate, get him a good position, then figure out what you want to do. He’s such a nice horse, if you look at his form he doesn’t have a bad race on there, and his form serves him well, you look at him coming in third to City Of Light (Winner of 2019 Pegasus World Cup Invitational), really top, top horses, always runs a good race, he just came out of a fast race the other day, I think Ax Man will be the favorite in the San Carlos so we would like to keep them in the Cal-Bred program if we can then we can dip into open company too. It was a great stretch drive, I’ve got a lot of confidence with Joel. He’s so strong and if you notice very little whipping, it’s him just riding him and carrying him. He’s a very strong rider.”
KOSTA HRONIS, OWNER OF EDWARDS GOING LEFT, WINNER: “That was tough coming down the homestretch. It was tough to keep calm. I can imagine how Joel feels! It seemed like it was a very long stretch run for a while. This is so nice and so rewarding. I’m happy for him. He’s a hard trier every time and he’s a Cal-bred and we love the Cal-breds here at Santa Anita. We’re just so happy he’s back on track and doing well.”
