STEWART ELLIOTT, SIRCAT SALLY, WINNER: “Very nice. She made the lead easily a she’s push-button to ride. She’ll slow down, speed up, whatever you want. When I asked her the last part, she finished out.”

JOE TALAMO, BEAU RECALL, SECOND: “No complaints. As you saw, she really kicked it in the last part and we got up to beat a nice filly, Pacific Wind, for second. The pace was slow, but she still finished really good. Simon’s done a great job with her and she just keeps getting better.”

DAN WARD, ASSISTANT TO JERRY HOLLENDORFER, SIRCAT SALLY, WINNER: “She’s very professional. She has just as much kick as the closers, but she has more speed. It’s a very good combination. I think someday, if they go fast and she sits off the pace, she’ll be able to do that, too. I knew the (one, Spy Ring) would put some pressure on as the only other speed in the race, but I told Stewart that if the one went crazy he could just sit off the pace.”

JOE TURNER, OWNER/BREEDER SIRCAT SALLY, WINNER: When asked if he’s ever had a horse win six races in a row? “No, never, and I’ve been breeding horses for over 30 years. This is like a dream come true. Her mother, Sister Sally, just had a beautiful filly by Square Eddie, so we’re very excited for the future. The goal with this filly is to run here in the Honeymoon (June 17, Grade II, 1 1/8 miles on turf) and then we’ll look at the Grade I race at Del Mar (Del Mar Oaks, 1 1/8 miles on turf Aug. 19). We’ve stayed home with her here in California and we’re just trying to win one at a time.”

NOTES: The winning owner/breeder is Joe Turner of Fresno, CA.
