GEOVANNI FRANCO, JUST GRAZED ME, WINNER: “We broke nice and she settled into a good spot. There were some really fast fillies in there today. She just does what she does and took off on the turn. Once she pinned her ears back, there was no way they were going to catch her.”
KENT DESORMEAUX, APACHE PRINCESS, SECOND: “She ran her eyeballs out; Keith had her ready. She was ready, but one was faster.”
PHIL D’AMATO, JUST GRAZED ME, WINNER: “She’s kind of actually changed her style more and more herself. She’s coming from further behind with a bigger kick . . . She’s just finding her groove right now. It’s really nice to see a filly develop like this and hopefully have a bright future ahead of her.”
NICK ALEXANDER, JUST GRAZED ME, WINNER: “It was kind of the way we figured. There was a lot of speed in the race, but five-furlong speed, and she has won at seven furlongs. I was thrilled to see Kentan Road go out there with the East Coast favorite and set it up nicely for us. This filly is very modestly bred, but she just fires every time. She just wants to beat you, and she’s like a puppy dog in the barn. She’s sweet and very sound. I couldn’t be happier.”
NOTES: The winning owner is Nick Alexander who resides in Los Angeles.
