SANTA ANA STAKES QUOTES-SATURDAY, MARCH 30, 2019

JOCKEY QUOTES

DRAYDEN VAN DYKE, ELSEA’S WORLD, WINNER:   “It was a little different this time (referring to the long photo finish in the Frank Kilroe Mile) at the end. This filly settled for me very nicely. This is the first time I have rode her, but I could tell she is a very classy filly.  We had a very nice pace to chase, so I was bidding my time before I asked her to run.  This race set up for us perfect on paper for me.  She did the rest when we turned for home.”

TRAINER QUOTES

RICHARD BALTAS, ELYSEA’S WORLD, WINNER: “The first effort was superb, that being said she was kind of nervous here. I was fortunate to have a very good crew at San Luis Rey Downs, I give the credit to my assistant Ruben Losa and the gallop boy they did a great job with her its quieter there, she’s been training well so you never know when you get a horse from another trainer is they are going to step it up again but at least she’s on the right track now. It depends on the horse when adjusting trainers, with her yes a lot of your nervous fillies they do better at San Luis Rey especially the grass horses. I think a mile and an eighth she will be great at a mile may be too short.”

OWNER QUOTES

JERRY McCLANAHAN, ELYSEA’S WORLD, WINNER: “It’s hard to win a race, but you know it’s so exciting when you do win that all you can do is keep hoping and waiting for it to happen. We ran three today and got one home. We really thought that this horse was the best horse in the race. We just had to have a good trip and wait for our diamond. We thought we could run by him, so she really just ran like we thought she could. She’s a little bit higher level than these horses, so if she didn’t get it done today, we might have been in a bit of trouble, but she came through for us.”
