COREY NAKATANI, WATCH THIS CAT, WINNER: “She’s won her last two on the grass and has been doing really well for Richard. His team over there…Between him, David and Thomas, they do a lot of work that we never get to see. They put a lot of time into this and he’s getting results. I’m proud to be a part of it. His owners, the support they give him, and the support he’s given me…I’ve ridden two stakes winners for him already and he’s put me back into a spot to have a chance at leading rider.

“He told me that wherever she’s placed, just let her get her feet under her and she loved it. She didn’t turn a hair out there and she was focused and spot on. She was ready to go today. I was going down the backside with a big grin on my face. I was just cruising. I pounced on them when she was ready to go. I just stayed out of her way.

“I have to thank the owners and Richard for giving me the opportunity to ride her.”

RICHARD BALTAS, WATCH THIS CAT, WINNER: “This horse has won down the hill both times and she’s impressed me. I was excited about today but the only thing was that we just didn’t know about the dirt.

“I just told Corey to let her have her way. Let her get relaxed and run where she wants to run and he did. He rode her perfectly.”

MATT NAKATANI, SON AND AGENT OF COREY NAKATANI: “We’re just glad that Richard is giving us the opportunity to ride some of the best horses in his barn and we’re looking forward to what we can do together this year.

“Everyone wanted to see (my dad) come back and ride. He took seven or eight months off but we’ve been out here every morning, working hard and we’re just doing the best that we can and so far, that’s paying off in the afternoons.”
