COREY NAKATANI, LET FAITH ARISE, WINNER: “She did everything she was supposed to do. We had to call an audible, because we thought we’d be sitting 1-2 early, but those other two (Yahilwa, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, and Eblouissante, ridden by Gary Stevens) went pretty quick, so we sat back off them and it worked out. She relaxed really well and she ran a great race.”

KENT DESORMEAUX, YAHILWA, SECOND: “When the winner passed me, my filly came back and passed her again. She fought tooth and nail, but they don’t give them away, do they?”

JERRY HOLLENDORFER, LET FAITH ARISE, WINNER: “Corey (Nakatani) did the right thing when they pressed up the pace. Instead of going on and getting trapped on the inside, he stayed there and let them set the pace up and let her run when she was ready.”

TOM STULL, OWNER/BREEDER, LET FAITH ARISE: “This is a very good birthday present. We were a little surprised the four horse (Yahilwa) hung in there like that.”

JAMES CASSIDY, YAHILWA, SECOND: “She did everything but win. She ran great and she’s a nice filly. She deserves to be a winner.”

NOTES: The winning owner/breeder is Tom Stull of Santa Ynez, who races as Tommytown Thoroughbreds, LLC.
