JUAN HERNANDEZ, INDIAN PEAK, WINNER: “He felt really comfortable, he’s a nice horse. He tries all the time. I rode him before maybe three or four times, and he’s the kind of horse that always comes with a run at the end. Pete Miller told me to just sit there and make one run and then before the quarter pole, before we crossed the dirt, he started running so I just let him run in. He picked the lead right after we crossed the dirt, and we were fighting the inside and outside (horses), but we made it. I’d like to thank the owners and Peter for the opportunity.”
GEHOBNY CATALAN, ASSISTANT TO PETER MILLER, INDIAN PEAK, WINNER: “We are really, really happy. He’s been feeling really good, he’s had a lot of energy and he’s been training good. We knew we had a lot of horse coming into this race, but it was a tough race. We got the right trip and it’s nice to win. We did it.”
NOTES: The winning owners are Wachtel Stable and Gary Barber.
