September 7 & 8
Moon Festival at Santa Anita Park
Free Admission & Parking for the Moon Festival Sept. 7 & 8 at Santa Anita Park
The Moon Festival Spectacular at the world famous Santa Anita Park is a two-daylong celebration of traditional Chinese and Asian heritage that includes arts, food, entertainment, and many other activities.
Every year on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, Chinese celebrate the ancient Mid-Autumn Festival —or Zhong Qiu Jie, also known as the Moon Festival. What began 3,000 years ago, as a religious ritual to pray for a full harvest, has become the second-most-celebrated holiday after the Lunar New Year. The traditions and myths surrounding the festival are formed around the concepts of gathering, thanksgiving, and well-being.
At the Moon Festival Spectacular, families not only enjoy the verities of ethnic food, and performances; they will also discover unique feature attractions such as TEA GARDEN DELIGHT, LANTERN FESTIVAL, MOON PALACE PHOTO, AND KIDS HAPPY PAVILION. Also, attendees will experience moon cakes, legend-inspired costumes, and many more traditional cultural activities.
