• 500th career winner: At Santa Anita aboard Halloween Treat on March 1, 1996.
• Regular rider of multiple stakes winner Memo, who provided Grade II victories in Santa Anita’s 1993 Tokyo City Cup Handicap (at that time the San Bernardino Handicap), and Hollywood Park’s Triple Bend Handicap in 1994.
• Rode 17 winners at 1992 Del Mar meet, including three on longshots Gloriousness ($44.20), Empress Eliza ($157) and Plus Perfect ($207.60).
• Tied Martin Pedroza for second in 1992 Fairplex standings with 27 wins.

Personal

• Received formal riding education in Utah at such outposts such as American Fork, South Jordan and Beaver.
• Began riding at minor league tracks in Idaho in 1984. Began apprenticeship at recognized tracks in 1985 when 16.
• Credits his success on major circuit to the late Charlie Whittingham, Dan Hendricks, Mel Stute, Hector Palma, Sandy Shulman and Richard Mandella.
• Wife Ami is the Horsemen's Liaison representative at Santa Anita.
