FLAVIEN PRAT, GOLD RUSH DANCER, WINNER: “I had a good trip today but he was still a bit aggressive. Even though he’s run a lot he’s still green, he’s still learning. When I asked him, he picked it up. He came in a little bit in the stretch but I don’t think he did anything wrong.
“He needs to relax a bit. I wasn’t covered up at all (like he was in his last race, which Vann Belvoir said might have been the key to his win in his last out) and he was more aggressive so he just has to learn.
“I’m riding with a lot of confidence. When you do well, it gets easier and you ride with more confidence. I try to focus on each mount and as of right now, that’s going pretty well.”
MARIO GUTIERREZ, RALIS, SECOND: “It set up how I thought it would. It was a good race for him definitely.”
VANN BELVOIR, TRAINER GOLD RUSH DANCER, WINNER: “When I saw the pace wasn’t quite as fast as we thought it would be, I was a little worried because last time he was covered up and with him in the clear today, I was worried that he might get a little keen. He ended up relaxing well though and he was within himself down the backside. I’m more impressed with this race today because he leveled really nice through the stretch. They were really running. He’ll stay on the grass now. He’s a lot better horse on turf.”
JOHN PARKER, OWNER/BREEDER, GOLD RUSH DANCER, WINNER: “I wasn’t worried, I was right in the action wanting to get that win. I’m flattered and really excited at the progress I’ve been seeing. He loves the grass, obviously, so this was a good day to win. I’m overwhelmed and excited for the two in a row. I don’t have any future plans worked out just yet, Vann and I will discuss it, but we’re thinking about going down to Del Mar in July.”
