MIKE SMITH, AMBITIOUS BREW, WINNER: “He warmed up well; was cool, calm and alert. He jumped out of the gate well, I was in a great spot from the word ‘go’ and able to get to the outside smoothly, without losing any ground. I’ve been blessed to ride him a lot and win on him a few times, but I have to say that this is his best race, by far. If I can get him to do that coming down the hill at Breeders’ Cup, that would be awesome.
VICTOR ESPINOZA, RICHARD’S BOY, SECOND: “He ran great but he just got a little tired at the end. He should run better next time.”
MARTY JONES, AMBITIOUS BREW, WINNER: “He loves the hill and he trains like it. We know he’s good and he’s a professional. I was a little nervous in the stretch, but Mike had him in a great spot.”
PAMELA ZIEBARTH, OWNER/BREEDER AMBITIOUS BREW, WINNER: “This win really means a lot. Eddie (Delahoussaye) rode Cee’s Tizzy for my mom and she loved him. We were second in this race two years ago and I remember that I ran into Eddie at the (City of Arcadia) Walk of Fame and he told me that he wished we had won.”
