Handicapping, in short, refers to analyzing the race to come up with best predicted outcome, or pick. There are many angles when it comes to picking a winner. Using some of the help from the professional handicappers below, you can determine your own angle on placing a bet. For more information on how to bet or wager, click here.
Trainer Julio Canani rarely has the opportunity to train young talent but he’s got a gem of a prospect in Miss Silver Brook, a $600,000 2-year-old in training purchase who made her debut in Sunday’s 6th race and could not have been more breathtaking. A strong, powerful filly with plenty of scope, she’s a daughter of Cozzene from a Turkoman mare and thus is bred to run as far as fillies are asked to. Yet, she was precocious enough to graduate sprinting in as visually impressive a performance as you’ll likely see from any maiden filly this meeting.
Nothing of value in the 1st race, with #4 Uncle Jeep listed at 4/5 on the morning line. He should win – he has nothing to beat, really – but the Mike Mitchell-trained gelding already has failed as the choice in three straight races, so do you trust him?
The card looks fairly chalky early on. In the first race #4 Superfecta is 9/5 on the morning line and likely will go lower. The West-trained gelding should appreciate this shortened sprint trip and can make amends for his recent runner up effort at 3/5 across town. If you’re playing the early daily double, focus on #2 Plug Me In and #5 Trimaran in the second race. The former ran like a short horse in his recent comeback and was victimized by a slow pace; he’ll be sharper and tougher today with the return to the high priced claiming ranks while retaining Bejarano.
The advice I have to offer for $1.2 million triple carryover Pick-6 players today is simple. Don’t worry about the big syndicates and the big tickets, just concern yourself about how much you can afford to invest, find a couple of a singles, and then go hit the thing.
