A nice Pick-6 carryover in excess of $81,000 to aim for on this Friday the 13th and the card looks playable. We’ll kick things off in the 3rd race with a single, #5 Natural Touch. The veteran gelding makes his first start since being claimed by Peter Miller and drops to the bottom after sitting out his jail term. He switches to Baze, adds blinkers and should be along in time at 3-1 on the morning line.

Today’s early double doesn’t look very attractive. #3 Kicken Vixen figures to be an odds-on winner in the opener, and #3 Rare Nugget and #5 Wood Art look like the main contenders in the 2nd race. That adds up to a pretty chalky payoff.

#2 Wineshine has much in his favor in today’s 1st race, but at 9/5 on the morning line and likely to go lower, he doesn’t represent much value. However, the 2nd race looks like a wide open affair and if you’re playing the early Daily Double, you might consider using Wineshine in the opener with #3 Frangipanni, #5 Julia M, and #7 Udriga, all of whom should be decent prices. Frangipanni drops to the bottom and represents a late threat off her best race.

1. Dunkirk 2. Pioneerof the Nile 3. Old Fashioned 4. The Pamplemousse 5. Quality Road 6. I Want Revenge 7. Friesan Fire 8. Desert Party 9. Theregoesjojo 10. Patena Dunkirk will have jockey Garrett Gomez aboard when he makes his next start in the Florida Derby on the last Saturday of March. Gomez and his agent, Ron Anderson, will have the opportunity to gauge this colt’s performance against that of 2nd rated Pioneerof the Nile, who will be a short priced favorite when he returns to action this Saturday in the San Felipe Stakes.

Today’s opener looks like a two-horse race between #5 Mossad and #6 Thor’s Bullet. Mossad returns to the main track and earned a big figure when graduating two races back and a repeat of that effort today puts him right there. Thor’s Bullet returned off a long layoff and blew away a maiden claiming field in fast time at Hollywood Park in December, hasn’t been seen since, but has worked sharply of late to indicate fitness.

We’ll begin this glorious 11-race Big ‘Cap card using three horses in the 1st race in an exacta/trifecta box and the same three in our rolling exotics. #2 Captain Charisma has an improving pattern, shortens up a furlong and with another forward move should be able to outrun his 12-1 morning line odds. He’ll probably get out-footed early but might be able to produce a decent finish with waiting tactics. #3 Leavin in a Limo drops to the bottom rung for his third career start and has numbers that make him a solid threat. These should be his friends.
