Tough card – one that could lead to a Pick-6 carryover. The shortest priced favorite on the morning line is #4 Tuscan Evening - she’s 8/5 in a downhill turf sprint for maiden fillies and mares - and she’s probably going to wind up being a single on many tickets.

Trumpet Play Jay, the namesake of long time racetrack bugler Jay Cohen, broke his maiden in his third career start in Monday’s opener and did so like a colt who’ll win again and then some. He’s not quick leaving the gate and needs at least a quarter of a mile to find his legs, but once he gets in gear the son of Orientate can really turn it on. And with Dynaformer on the bottom, the Mark Glatt-trained 4-year-old should be able to stay a middle distance in due time.

We have another Pick-6 carryover to aim for today – there’s $141,431 in the pool – and it won’t be easy because there doesn’t appear to be a slam dunk single in the six race scheme. Another carryover isn’t out of the question, but if you’re thinking about diving in, we hope the following analysis is of some use to you.

Trainer Mark Casse’s Woodbine shippers have acquitted themselves nicely early in the meeting and the stable appears to have a live one in #3 Pool Play in today’s 1st race. The Silver Deputy colt ran well in his only turf start and he appears well suited for the 10 furlong trip. His most logical challenger is #1 Oceanography, who returns to the lawn following a decent runner up try at this level in an off-the-turfer here opening day. Both should be used in your rolling exotics.
