Jeff Siegel's Prime Picks for Wednesday, March 4

The first three races on the program don’t offer much in the way of wagering value, so we’ll begin our play in the 4th race and look for #1 Hoist the Sail to successfully move up one notch on the claiming scale and score again. The Sadler-trained gelding does his best running on the lead and seems capable of controlling this race from gate to wire from his good inside draw. #3 Homemade Brew was once fairly well regarded but in the 5th race she plummets to the bottom while shortening up to an abbreviated sprint. Obviously, she has her issues and it’s just a matter of whether she has one more good one left in her. #5 No Cream Or Sugar looked pretty good beating a restricted (nw-2) $12,500 field recently, has come back to train well and retains Bejarano. She should fire a similar shot today. The Doug O’Neill-trained #2 Storm Brave figures to bounce back in a big way in today’s 6th race. He returns to turf, switches to Gomez, and with good racing luck can regain his winning form. His only start down the hill (during the Oak Tree meeting) was good and in a field with plenty of speed, he seems capable of settling in mid pack and producing the last run. In the 7th race, #7 Kulinski Rose and #8 Unworldly Heat both have a right to run well and both should be used in the your rolling exotics. Kulinski Rose continued her improving pattern with a game maiden score in fast time last month and should be on or near the lead throughout today while shortening up a half furlong. Unworldly Heat, second in her last three starts, figures to be motoring home late with the switch to Bejarano. She has a bullet work over the track last week and seems on edge for a top try. The Sean McCarthy-trained #1 Benezit must overcome the rail in the 9th race at seven furlongs but at this bottom level he should be along in time. The Old Topper gelding has competitive speed figures, switches to Gomez and has worked well since his last race. He looks like a solid rolling exotics single at 5/2 on the morning line. Today's Showvivor II selection: #1 Hoist the Sail (5th race)
