JULIEN LEPAROUX, TIZ FLIRTATIOUS, WINNER: “She proved it again today. She’s never been worse than third in her career. She likes to run, and she’s a good mare, it was nice to be on her today. She’s a fighter; every jock likes those kind (of horses). She won big today, so it was good. She was a little keen today, but she dropped the bit and relaxed on the backside, and after that, she got up on them. They were not really going anywhere so I just waited, and waited then she gave me a nice kick.”

MIKE SMITH, LADY OF SHAMROCK, SECOND: “She ran a great race, her first race back. If I had a race under my belt, I probably would have ridden her a little differently myself, but I didn’t. It’s a long year, and we just wanted a good race, and that’s what we got.”

MARTY JONES, TIZ FLIRTATIOUS, WINNER: “Julien rode a great race. She looked like she wanted to get a little keen and Julien’s just got a great way of getting a horse to relax. I think he fit her real well.

“I think this (Grade II win) was long overdue. She’s been close in graded stakes, and finally things went her way. We’ll have to talk with (owner) Pam (Ziebarth) and see what she wants to do, but I think the Gamely (Grade I, May 27 at Betfair Hollywood Park) might be a race we’re looking at if everything goes well.”

PAMELA ZIEBARTH, TIZ FLIRTATIOUS, WINNER: “We still have her (Tiz Flirtatious’) dad in the family . . . Tiznow, Tiz Bud, it’s like a dream.

(In response to many Breeders going through their careers within the industry and never being able to have a horse like this)

“I haven’t ever had to go out and buy so . . . (smiles).”

(In response to what might be next for Tiz Flirtatious)

“He (trainer Marty Jones) keeps saying it’s my choice, but it really isn’t. We have had some discussions of what graded stakes (to aim for) obviously, and all she had to do was break through today and it makes that decision a lot easier. Julien gave her such an incredible ride today, and first time out (on her). We were very confident; he’s won for us before and they’re just a great combination.”

LARRY BENAVIDEZ, ASSISTANT TO JOHN SADLER, LADY OF SHAMROCK, EVEN-MONEY FAVORITE, SECOND: “She stumbled a little bit out of the gate. This is a nice step (forward). It’s a long year.”

BEN CECIL, QUIET OASIS, THIRD: “I was happy. I think she probably got a little tired at the end.”

NOTES: The winning owner is Pamela Ziebarth of San Juan Capistrano, CA.
