EDWIN MALDONADO, LINDZ WINZ, WINNER: “It’s pretty slippery and nasty on the track today. I was hoping to go to the lead, but we let the number eight (Sunburn) go in front. I knew sooner or later the leader would get tired and everything worked out as planned. This filly can run. She’s a small filly but she always tries hard every time she runs.”

BARRY ABRAMS, LINDZ WINZ, WINNER: “We took a chance and it worked out great for us. The only horse I was worried about was the favorite (Unzip Me) and the favorite scratched. That gave us the race. She was the sharpest horse in the race. She was the only real sprinter in the race. Everybody else was a two-turn horse. This filly has a half-brother and a half-sister who both won on this kind of a track (sloppy). The filly from Golden Gate (third-place finisher Advance Ticket) really hadn’t beaten any stakes horses, so I thought we had a good shot.”

NOTES: The winning owners are Robert Huston of Pasadena (Huston Racing Stable), Billy Koch (of a partnership with Little Red Feather Racing) and Barry Abrams of Arcadia.
