BRICE BLANC, ALL STAR HEART, WINNER: “I had a beautiful trip. I just followed Malibu Pier all the way around which was pretty much my strategy. My filly relaxed really nice and did what I wanted her to do at the top of the lane and I was able to out kick her. She has a tremendous finish. She’s a big strong filly who can cover a lot of ground.”

RON McANALLY, ALL STAR HEART, WINNER: Asked if he expected her to be where she was in the running: “That’s her style of running. After a while, I saw the one horse (City to City) go by her and I said, ‘Oh, hell.’ But then I knew we had plenty left when he (Brice Blanc) hadn’t even asked her yet. It’s good for her to get that graded status on her resume.”
Asked what might be next: “No, not really. We hadn’t planned anything. We’ll just enjoy the moment and look at Hollywood and see what they have there.””

RAFAEL BEJARANO, ON WINNING THE SANTA ANITA AUTUMN MEET RIDING TITLE: “It was very tough competition, but I’m really happy. It was a long flight back from the Breeders’ Cup but I enjoyed the races today. I had good luck.”

NOTES: The winning owner/breeder is Gerald Gibbs of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.
