RAFAEL BEJARANO, ROUSING SERMON, WINNER: “My horse ran really good today. I’ve been working him at Hollywood Park to get him ready for this race. He’s been getting better and better every work, and the last work he did really good. I knew he was going to be tough in this race. When I saw the number three (Motown Men) was hanging out a little bit in the stretch I got my opportunity to get clear and my horse showed me a big kick.”

VICTOR ESPINOZA, STONEY FLEECE, THIRD: “I had a good trip. Turning for home, I thought I had enough horse, but he just kind of hung a little bit the last sixteenth.”

JERRY HOLLENDORFER, ROUSING SERMON, WINNER: “A little concerned about being caught down on the inside but Rafael got the colt out just in time and made a nice run. He ran it perfectly off the pace and wasn’t scared of horses down inside. You couldn’t ask him to run any better.
“We’re just taking it one at a time. There’re a lot of races for 2-year-olds so we’ll try to pick a good one for him.”

NOTES: The winning owners/breeders are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams of Boise, Idaho.
