UNDEFEATED BLACK CAVIAR GAINS AUTOMATIC BERTH INTO BREEDERS’ CUP TURF SPRINT AFTER WINNING

SYDNEY, (April 13, 2013) – The undefeated super mare Black Caviar (AUS) captured Saturday’s Darley TJ Smith Stakes at Royal Randwick and earned an automatic berth into the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at through the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series.

The Breeders’ Cup Challenge is a global series of 67 stakes races whose winners earn automatic starting positions into a corresponding race of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, which will be held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., Nov. 1-2.

The 5-year-old Black Caviar, a sensational winner of 25 straight races, and a 15 record Group 1s, for owners G. J. Wilkie, K. J. Wilkie, Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd et al., is trained by Peter Moody and was ridden to a three length victory today by Luke Nolan. As a part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge program benefits, the Breeders’ Cup will pay the $20,000 in entry fees and provide a $40,000 travel allowance to the winning connections for the 6 ½ furlong $1 million Turf Sprint if Black Caviar is nominated to the Breeders’ Cup program by Oct. 21.
