PICK SIX CARRYOVER OF $62,270 INTO SATURDAY, TOTAL SANTA ANITA POOL EXPECTED TO REACH $500,000

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 4, 2013)—With 25-1 shot Kochees paving the way in leg one of Friday’s Pick Six, no one correctly tabbed all six in Santa Anita’s popular wager, resulting in a Pick Six carryover into Saturday of $81,000, with the expectation that Saturday’s total pool could reach $500,000.

Santa Anita will offer a nine-race program on Saturday, with Pick Six comprised of races four through nine. A total of 60 horses are entered for the final six races, so barring any late scratches, Saturday’s average Pick Six race field size stands at 10 horses per race.

The Bob Baffert-trained Coil is the shortest priced morning line favorite on Saturday, as he has been installed by linemaker Jon White as the 2-1 favorite in the Grade II, $150,000 San Pasqual Stakes, carded as Saturday’s seventh race.

A winner of the Grade I Santa Anita Sprint Championship on Oct. 6, Coil was most recently third, beaten two lengths, in the Grade I Cigar Mile Handicap on Nov. 24 at Aqueduct. His primary opposition at 1 1/16 miles would appear to be multiple graded stakes winning Ultimate Eagle and hard hitting California-bred John Scott.

Legendary Dodger Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda will present the San Pasqual trophy.

First post time for Saturday’s nine-race program is 12:30 p.m. For updated scratches, changes and morning line information, visit www.santaanita.com
