MASSIVE PICK 5 CARRYOVER OF $207,240 INTO SUNDAY, POPULAR LOW TAKEOUT, 50 CENT WAGER COULD GENERATE $1.5 MILLION TOTAL POOL AT SANTA ANITA

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2012)—No one correctly tabbed five winners in Santa Anita’s popular 50 cent Pick 5 on Saturday, resulting in a carryover of $207,240 into Sunday, which is expected to generate a total Pick 5 pool on Sunday of more than $1.5 million.

The Pick 5, which features a fan-friendly low takeout rate of 14 percent, encompasses the first five races on each day’s card.

A total of 41 horses have been entered in Sunday’s Pick 5, with fields of seven, six, seven, 11 and 10 in each race.

The shortest price on Jon White’s morning line is Candy Waltz in the second race, who will be ridden by Martin Garcia and is listed at 8-5. Trained by John Sadler, the Craig Stables homebred takes a drop in class out of a first condition allowance race at Del Mar Sept. 3. Entered for a $25,000 claiming tag at six furlongs, he’ll break from the rail in his third career start.

First post time for Sunday’s nine-race card is 1 p.m.
