FOLLOW YOUR HORSES, TRAKUS WIRELESS TRACKING SYSTEM COMING TO SANTA ANITA FOR 2012 AUTUMN MEET

ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2012)—Trakus, the revolutionary wireless tracking system that enables fans to follow their horses instantaneously throughout the running of a race, will be available at Santa Anita Park beginning Friday, opening day of the 24-day Autumn Meet.

“The Trakus technology has been very well received and Santa Anita is proud to bring this information to our fans,” said Santa Anita President George Haines. “The complete run order of each race will be displayed, live, on our infield big board and on our simulcast television signal. It is of benefit to both new and experienced horseplayers.”

More accurate and immediate than Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) or other positioning techniques, the Trakus system uses proprietary wireless communications to track tags that are fitted into each horse’s saddlecloth during live racing. This tracking system determines the exact location of each horse throughout the entire race. The system uses information it gathers to generate a broad range of feature sets for use with simulcast and other media.

Santa Anita’s main track and turf course have been outfitted with permanent fixtures and cabling which will serve to provide data from each race such as: Individual sectional times, ground coverage and closing speeds. All of this information is available for distribution within minutes of a completed race, offering bettors and racing media more quantitative insight into specific race by race dynamics than ever before.
