VOTING UNDERWAY FOR 2012 HRTV/SANTA ANITA FILM FESTIVAL, $28,000 IN PRIZE MONEY AT STAKE, ON-LINE VOTING GOES THROUGH APRIL 19, WINNER NAMED APRIL 22
ARCADIA, Calif. (April 4, 2012)—Voting is underway for the Fan Favorite Award in the inaugural HRTV “A Day at the Races” Film Festival at Santa Anita, with a total of $28,000 in prize money at stake. A total of 25 short, non-fiction films have been submitted and are under review. All submissions are a maximum of five minutes in length and all were shot at The Great Race Place.
“Santa Anita Park is honored to not only participate, but to be the focal point in all of these great stories that are being told by some fantastic film makers,” said Santa Anita Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Quinn. “We are very pleased with the huge on-line voting response we have already received in the first 48 hours of the contest.”
Scott Daruty, President of HRTV, commented: “The quality of the films submitted is remarkable. Fans will definitely enjoy themselves as they view the submissions and select their favorite on-line.”
The winner of the Fan Favorite Award, which will be determined through on-line voting at www.HRTV.com, will take home $10,000. Voting continues through April 19 and will conclude that evening at 8:59:59 p.m. PDT. All submissions can be viewed and votes cast at www.HRTV.com.
There will also be a Judges’ Prize which will be determined by a distinguished panel of horseracing and entertainment professionals. The panel consists of: World renowned film star and current CHRB board member Bo Derek, top-rated Los Angeles radio personality Tim Conway Jr., retired Hall of Fame jockey and current HRTV and NBC racing analyst Gary Stevens, Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, HRTV Director of Brand Management Carolyn Conley, Santa Anita C.E.O. Mark Verge, HRTV Executive Producer Amy Zimmerman, Santa Anita President George Haines, Santa Anita V.P. Sales and Marketing Chris Quinn and Santa Anita Director of Community Services and Special Projects, Pete Siberell.
The Judges’ Prize will pay $10,000. Second place is worth $5,000 and the third-place finisher will receive $3,000.
Winners from both contests will be announced at Santa Anita on closing day, April 22.
