PICK SIX CARRYOVER OF $76,835 INTO THURSDAY, TOTAL SANTA ANITA POOL EXPECTED TO EXCEED $400,000, SUPER HIGH 5 CARRYOVER OF $35,974
ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2011)—In large part due to a 20-1 longshot, no one correctly tabbed all six winners in Santa Anita’s popular Pick Six wager on Monday, resulting in a carryover into Thursday of $76,835. It is expected Thursday’s total Pick Six pool will exceed $400,000.
Monday’s Pick Six was comprised of races four through nine and in race five, 20-1 shot Three for Marino prevailed in a desperate finish to win by a nose over 7-2 favorite Dave’s Revenge, all but assuring a carryover.
Ridden by Martin Garcia and trained by Brian Koriner, Three for Marino paid $42.80 to win. A 4-year-old California-bred filly by Marino Marini, she’s owned by her breeder, Rancho San Miguel.
Santa Anita’s Super High 5, which requires bettors to select the first five finishers of each day’s last race carried over as well Sunday, and $35,974 will be up for grabs Thursday.
After dark days on Tuesday and Wednesday, live racing returns to Santa Anita on Thursday, with first post time at 1 p.m. Thursday’s Pick Six will cover races three through eight.
