SANTA ANITA TO HOST PHOTOGRAPHY DAY MARCH 11, BEGINNERS, PROS INVITED TO SHOOT WORKOUTS, RACES

ARCADIA, Calif. (March 3, 2011)—Santa Anita Park is inviting professional and novice photographers to a one of a kind Photography Day on March 11 at The Great Race Place. All participants will be required to report to Santa Anita’s Clockers’ Corner area by 7:30 a.m. to register and then begin shooting.

With the majestic San Gabriel Mountains as a backdrop, photographers will have the unique opportunity to capture some of the nation’s finest Thoroughbreds as they go through their early morning training regimen.

When workouts conclude at 10 a.m., a breakfast buffet will be served and a question and answer session with track photographers, trainers and management will follow. First race post time is 1 p.m., and all participants will be granted access to the track’s paddock and winner’s circle.

“Mornings at Santa Anita Park provide such a beautiful canvas for anyone with a camera and we think this is a great opportunity for folks to come out, get a feel for what goes on here in the morning and then be granted professional access in the afternoon,” said Santa Anita Group Events Coordinator Chris Quinn. “At the end of the day, we’ll select a wide variety of photos and post them on our web site, www.santaanita.com.”

A modest $20 registration fee covers admission, parking, breakfast and press credentials for the day.
